April
The lockdown in the village due to Coronavirus continues. There have now been over 26,000 deaths in the UK. Fortunately, I am not aware of any confirmed cases in the village and I understand the care home is clear. As Mike Mc put it, lets hope we can yet again be a Thankful Village.
The community continues to applaud the NHS and frontline workers every Thursday evening. Toft Social club has “virtually” opened with a zoom open evening and a Countdown Quiz and more planned for May. The weather has been beautiful with record amounts of sunshine and very little rain until the last few days of the month.

TSC Online
Toft Social Club has started holding Open Evenings using Zoom video conferencing on a Friday Evening, from 8:30. The idea is that village folk can come along to the online Social Club and meet friends in the main bar, or head off to a table for chats in smaller groups. The first evening has been very successful and will continue every Friday throughout the duration of the Lockdown.

TSC Countdown
The Social Club trialed a video conference based Countdown evening tonight - 8 teams took part using "Zoom" conferencing. It worked pretty well, so the plan is to try it again.
It's not the same as being at the Club, but in these tricky times, it made a good second best.

Toft Beer Festival Award
The Cambridge and District CAMRA (Campaign for Real Ale) have just
announced their 2020 Branch Award Winners and Toft Social Club Beer
Festival Team have been awarded the REAL ALE CHAMPIONS AWARD.
This is a great accolade for Toft Social Club, and especially for the many people in the Beer Festival Team who make it such a great event!
It is particularly poignant coming at a time when we are sadly closed due to the Covid-19 outbreak.
